What can La Salle Paterna offer to a foreign student?
- A UNIQUE EDUCATION:
La Salle Paterna is a religious, co-educational private school which is funded by the state, with aproximately 1500 students, ranging from Primary Education (6 years old) to Higher Secondary Education or Baccalaureate (18 years old).
The LaSallian Brothers have run this institution in Paterna since 1951. They belong to ‘The Brothers of Christian Schools’, a community founded By Saint John Baptist de La Salle during the 17th century.
The richness of the Lasallian charism:
“ The Lasallian charism is a strength, it is a global stance towards life (or a way of looking at life, which is the spirit of faith), it is a special sensitivity to specific needs, which in our case are the educational needs of the poor, the young people. It is a sense of responsibility to give solutions to those needs. It is the creativity which is generated so that the responses can be the best possible ones and it is the ability to discern between possible options presented to us and the criteria we use to act and to respond.”
TRADITION AND INNOVATION:
Our school has achieved a perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
Our Chapel, School Theatre and Natural History Museum show the splendour of a bygone era that has evolved towards a new concept of education, based on co-operative learning.
Our educators use digital whiteboards and iPads and our facility is designed to cater for all. Students can make use of our Sports Hall, Computer Rooms and laboratories, all of which are onsite.
Brother De La Salle transformed education by forming a community of educators with whom he developed a spirituality of teaching and learning that has been transmitted all the way up to the present day.
Lasallian Education, centers on Catholic values and personal relationships, emphasizing academic excellence, faith formation, inclusion, respect for the individual, service and social justice.
Today our school continues responding to students’ needs through advancements in teaching, technology and scholarship. In Lasallian communities educators touch hearts, stimulate minds and cultivate leadership to prepare students for life, work, and service to society.
- AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN SPANISH IN ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL REGIONS OF THE COUNTRY:
Spanish is one of the languages of the future. It is spoken by more than 400 million people all over the world and has official status in 21 countries.
Foreign students will be immersed in Spanish language and culture with other students of their own age, in Paterna, a town 5km from Valencia city centre.
Being located on the East coast of Spain, the area boasts several award winning beaches. Students will enjoy great weather and a wide cultural offering.
- THREE POSSIBLE ACCOMODATION CHOICES:
With a long tradition in having student exchanges and assistant teachers from different nationalities, La Salle Paterna is culturally fond of meeting new people. We take great pride in our international spirit.
Apart from Spanish students, we have had foreign students from: Guinea, Germany, Norway and the USA etc.
Our accomodation choices are as follows:
(i) Boarding School:
La Salle Paterna has a lively Boarding School which offers students the opportunity of having a routine that reinforces their studies, with mentors that help them along throughout the year.
(ii) Family Life:
The school international office offers a database with families that are willing to take a foreign student into their homes. There is a personalised treatment in which we find the most suitable family for each student.
(iii) Boarding school + weekend Family life:
Typically the most attractive option, where students can enjoy the best of both worlds. They feel part of the school from Monday to Thursday and socialize with the members of a Spanish family and take part in their activities at the weekend.
